Now in use all over the UK to grapple with increasing loadings of "Heavy Metals" in tapwater, often the result of distant mine closures, the "METALEX" range has won acclaim from professional breeders and pondkeepers as a true step forward in the battle for effective tapwater purification. Originally designed in 1990 for Discus and then developed with new mixed-bed resins to cater for all freshwater species where contaminant levels would defeat a normal purifier.

Unlike most carbon systems the series employs the powdered "SHORT TRAVEL" carbons to enhance the effectiveness of the "METALEX" media, producing an unrivalled spectrum of contaminant removal.

The range extends from the MM2O, suitable for small ponds or average aquaria, through the most popular MM8O, to the MM175, widely-used by professional breeders and for ponds up to 4000 gallons.
 

Performance : All systems within the range will lower average levels of Free Chlorine to levels which are "safe" for fish and also Chloramine*, so deadly to aquatic species. Pesticides, herbicides, THMs, VOCs, PCBs will be virtually eliminated and a useful removal of Fluoride and many more contaminants that can combine to attack fish condition will also be shown.
 

"HEAVY METALS": The "METALEX" has been independently evaluated in the UK to lower concentrations of such toxic contaminants as Copper, Lead and Iron by up to 98%. It will not only remove particles of Aluminium floc left behind by Water Utility treatment, but also up to 89% of Dissolved Aluminium from tapwater containing the EEC maximum permitted concentration. These systems have now been responsible for the trouble-free production of over half a million fish in the UK.

Housings: Three 10" filter bowls and heads, mounting bracket, cartridges and hosetails, pure water pipe and full instructions.

Cartridges:

1 x Pre-filter sediment cartridge. 1 Micron nominal

1 x “Metalex” Cartridge.  ½ Micron nominal with integral outer filter for longer life.  Approx 4 million sq ft filtration area.

1 x  powdered "Short Travel" carbon cartridge with approx. 7.5 million sq ft of filtration area.
 

Performance:

Up to 2000 gallons @ 0.5 gpm
